The Dream Tour
The Dream Tour presented by ExxonMobil, features Dr. Bernard Harris, the first African American to walk in space, and encourages middle school students to reach their potential by acquiring strong math and science skills. It also provides improved tools for teachers to deliver more engaging classroom activities.
Since the program's launch in 2008, The Dream Tour, with financial support from the ExxonMobil Foundation, has impacted the lives of more than 60,000 students. In 2011, the program visited Dallas, New York City, San Antonio, Washington, D.C., as well as three African cities including Luanda, Angola; Lagos, Nigeria and Johannesburg, South Africa.
From humble beginnings in San Antonio to making history as the first African American to walk in space, Dr. Harris is a living example of achieving high aspirations. His story provides a powerful backdrop to deliver his message to students across America.
“America’s students have incredible opportunities in careers that haven’t even been created yet. The Dream Tour is one way to open their eyes to the limitless possibilities they have in their hands as long as math and science education is part of the equation,” said Dr. Harris.
